Summy is made by Speaking Computer. This policy explains what information Summy handles, why it is needed and the choices you have.

Information Summy handles

When you sign in with Apple, Summy receives an account identifier and, if you choose to share them, your name and email address. Apple may provide a private relay email instead of your personal address.

Summy stores the things you choose to save, including links, text, images and documents. It also stores extracted text, titles, previews, categories, tags, summaries, questions, answers and chat history needed to provide the app.

Basic request and processing information may be handled to keep the service secure, reliable and working as expected. Summy does not use advertising trackers.

How the information is used

Your information is used to operate your account, store and organise your library, produce summaries, answer your questions, and diagnose service problems. It is not sold and is not used for targeted advertising.

Service providers

Summy uses Apple for account sign-in, Cloudflare to run the service and store account data and saved files, and Anthropic to generate summaries and answers. Content is sent to these providers only when needed to provide those functions. Their handling of information is governed by their own terms and privacy commitments.

Retention and deletion

Your account and saved content remain available until you delete individual items or delete your account. You can delete your account from Settings in Summy. Account deletion removes your account, saved items, uploaded files, summaries, categories, tags and conversations from Summy’s active systems. Limited copies may remain temporarily in service-provider backups or security records before being removed under their normal retention schedules.

Your choices

You decide what to save and can delete saved items at any time. You can hide your personal email using Apple’s private relay, sign out on your device, or permanently delete your Summy account in the app.

Children

Summy is not directed to children under 13, and Speaking Computer does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes

This policy may change as Summy develops. The date at the top of this page will be updated when it does.
